Reiki: The Art of Healing Through Energy
Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique focused on channeling energy to promote physical, mental, and spiritual balance. The word comes from the Japanese terms Rei (universal) and Ki (vital energy), commonly defined as "Universal Life Force Energy."
What are the benefits of Reiki?
Reiki works holistically, addressing the root of imbalances rather than just the symptoms. Some of its most notable benefits include:
Stress and Anxiety Reduction: Induces a state of deep relaxation that helps calm the nervous system.
Emotional Harmonization: Helps release emotional blockages, providing a sense of inner peace and mental clarity.
Strengthening the Immune System: By reducing cortisol (the stress hormone), the body regains its natural self-healing capacity.
Improved Sleep: An excellent therapy for individuals suffering from insomnia or chronic fatigue.

What is a Reiki session like?
If it is your first time, it is natural to feel curious. A typical session usually lasts between 45 and 60 minutes and follows these steps:
1. Preparation and Environment
The session takes place in a quiet environment with dim lighting, soft music, and the scent of essential oils. The patient remains fully clothed, lying comfortably on a massage table or sitting in a chair.
2. The Laying on of Hands
The practitioner places their hands gently on (or slightly above) specific areas of the body, such as the head, torso, and back. These positions correspond to the energy centers known as Chakras.
3. Sensations During the Session
Every experience is unique. During the energy transfer, you might feel:
Warmth or tingling in the treated areas.
A profound sense of relaxation (some people even fall asleep).
Visualizations of colors or spontaneous meditative states.
4. Closing
At the end, a few minutes of silence are usually observed to allow the patient to gradually return to the present. It is common to feel an immediate lightness and a renewal of energy that lasts for several days.
Important Note: Reiki is a complementary therapy and It does not replace medical treatment; rather, it enhances it, helping the patient face recovery processes with a better attitude and internal balance.
